Meet Dr. Christy

Dr. Christy Huskey

I love teaching piano and helping students become musical, expressive pianists.

My mom took me to my first piano lesson at age 7. By the time I was in high school, I was accompanying choir and other vocal groups. I could sight read easily and enjoyed my piano lessons with a local university professor.

I taught my first piano students my senior year of college. I really loved sharing music with younger students and have stayed on this path ever since!

To refine my teaching skills, I got a master’s degree and a doctorate in piano pedagogy. In simple terms, this means that I am a student of how to teach piano well, no matter the age or level or goals of a student.

I’ve been fortunate to teach in many places, polishing my teaching approaches in different settings. Most recently, I taught piano, freshman music theory, sight singing & ear training, and class piano as a visiting lecturer at the University of Central Arkansas.

My husband is the Director of Choral Activities at Conway High School and I enjoy accompanying his choirs. We also lead worship at First Baptist Church of Maumelle.
